Ever since it was built, the Old Town Hall has been not only a seat of government but also a major venue for Kokkola culture. It was here that people would assemble to dance, to watch plays, operettas and even roller skating. In the early years of the 20th century it served as a major concert hall visited by great artists of their day. In its new chamber music series Genius loci (The spirit of the place) the OCO seeks to discover by musical means the essence of the town’s historical public buildings.
