OCO founder and Honorary Conductor Juha Kangas leads the orchestra in a magical journey from the days of J.S. Bach to the Baltic States, with music by Latvian Pēteris Vasks and Estonian Rudolf Tobias, and on to Ukraine for Valentin Silvestrov’s Elegy. The concert culminates in nocturnal mood with Mozart’s Serenata notturna. The soloist in the Finnish premiere of Vasks’s second violin concerto is the dazzling Hugo Ticciati.
