Kokkola Quartet's new line-up continues to give concerts

The Kokkola Quartet's new line-up continues to give concerts. This time we can enjoy music from composers such as Joseph Haydn, Maurice Ravel and the Finnish composer Pehr Henrik Nordgren.

The members of the Kokkola Quartet - Reetta Kataja, violin, Reijo Tunkkari, violin, Hanna Pakkala, viola and Lauri Pulakka, cello - are all musicians in the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra.

The Concert from Snellman Hall, Kokkola on Friday 16th April is also open for a live auidence. According to current restrictions an audience of 20 persons is allowed. The tickets are for sale on Tuesday 13th April at 9 pm at www.netticket.fi.  The Concert can also be viewed as a live stream via the Orchestra's YouTube Channel.

The Concert starts with Joseph Haydn's (1732-1809) String Quartet Op. 20/4 in D Major from year 1772, a great exampel on the composer's quartet style.
After a short interval the Quartet performs music by the OCO's late composer in residence, Pehr Henrik Nordgren (1944-2008). His String Quartet No 7 from year 1992 is comissioned by the Central Ostrobothnian Conservatory and was dedicated by Nordgren to his wife. Last but not least, the Kokkola Quartet performs the String Quartet by Maurice Ravel (1875-1937).

The Kokkola Quartet’s violinist and Alternating Concertmaster in OCO, Reetta Kataja, will be playing on the ”Papa Gand” violin, built by Charles Francois Gand in 1810. The Violin is kindly loaned to Kataja by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.

The members of the Quartet will be interviewed in the pre-concert talk by Kirsti Rasehorn. The talk will be recorded in advance and shown before the live stream at 6.30 pm.

You can watch the live stream on YouTube free of charge. You can support the Orchestra by donating a streaming fee
