The idea behind this concert was to jog people’s memory of the trials and tribulations suffered by generations past. The theme is present at many different levels – in the choice of composers, song lyrics and music. The evening will culminate in the intense Chamber Symphony by Dmitri Shostakovich dedicated to the victims of war and fascism. The soloist in this concert is British soprano Ruby Hughes.
