On a darkening October evening, the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra is joined by the exceptional violinist Alena Baeva, who appears regularly as a soloist with many of the world’s leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and numerous others.

Mendelssohn’s remarkably mature Violin Concerto in D minor and Sibelius’s mysteriously enchanting Humoresques are certain to delight all lovers of violin music. This concert, infused with the spirit of Nordic Romanticism, concludes with one of the most beloved works in the string repertoire: Edvard Grieg’s deeply moving String Quartet, heard in an arrangement for string orchestra.
